It seems that every time Manchester United play a game recently, they break one record or another. Yesterday was no exception and again it was Edwin Van Der Sar that did it. He has now set an English record for the number of minutes played without conceding a goal in United's 1-0 victory over Everton on Saturday.The former Netherlands international has gone 1,122 minutes without giving up a goal. He surpassed the previous mark of 1,103 minutes set by Reading's Steve Death during the 1978-79 season.
Van der Sar was last beaten in November, when Arsenal's Samir Nasri scored on him twice.
There is another record to aim for in the next match away to West Ham United. This time it is Chris Woods British record he set when he went unbeaten for 1,196 minutes for Rangers. So here we go again, he needs to keep West ham out for 75 minutes to claim that record too.

Another Great win for united. with our solid defence and shrinking injury list, we will be unstoppable soon! I think van der sar can go atleast another 3 -4 games without conceding a goal!, the form he and the defence are in.
Does anyone know what the current world top flight record is for consecutive clean sheets?
The world record is held by Geraldo Pereira de Matos
Filho (Mazaropi) who played for CR Vasco de Gama
Rio de Janeiro and his record stands at 1,816 minutes
from 18th May 1977 to 7th September 1978.
So, Van Der Superstar and United's defence need to
play another 694 mins to equal this record. Which is
11 hours and 34 minutes or 7 and a half games.

Fulham (H)
Blackburn (H)
Newcastle (A)
Liverpool (H)
