Inter Milan have got the same problems Manchester United had 2 weeks ago with injuries becoming an issue as they prepare to travel to Old Trafford for the second leg of the last 16 of the Champions League. Inter defenders Marco Materazzi and Nicolas Burdisso are definitely out of Wednesday's Champions League tie with Manchester United at Old Trafford. The pair were both injured during Saturday's 2-0 Serie A win at Genoa.Italian World Cup winner Materazzi appeared to pull a muscle as he reached for the ball in the centre circle during the first half and he was soon joined in the treatment room by Burdisso, with midfielder Esteban Cambiasso forced to fill in at the back. Burdisso has a tear in the right leg and a tear in the medial ligament of the left knee, the club stated, adding that Materazzi had a left leg injury.
Fellow centre-back Walter Samuel has returned to full training but Cristian Chivu remains a doubt for Wednesday. Goals from Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Mario Balotelli, extended their lead at the top of the table to 10 points and saw them become the first team to beat Genoa at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris this season. However, the injuries were a high price to pay with Wednesday's last-16 second leg lurking. The first game at the Giuseppe Meazza finished goalless.....Back To Home Page...
