Reuben Noble Lazarus Trains With Manchester United For Two Weeks

reuben noble-lazarus barnsleyBarnsley player Reuben Noble-Lazarus is currently training with Manchester United for two weeks.

Noble-Lazarus is still only 15 years of age and has made two substitute appearance for the Barnsley this season.

He has been a regular in the Reserves and also scored a memorable hat-trick against Sheffield United in the Academy side.

Reuben has been with Barnsley Football Club setup from the age of twelve and this season he has played for the Under 16s, 18s, Reserves and First team.

Noble-Lazarus was born 16 August 1993. He can play as an outright striker or on the left, and is renowned for his speed. At 15 years and 45 days old, he became the youngest player ever to feature in a Football League match when he came on as a substitute during Barnsley's 3–0 Championship defeat by Ipswich Town on 30 September 2008.

The previous weekend, Noble-Lazarus had scored a hat-trick for the Barnsley under-18 team, for whom he had played since he was 12 years old, and was selected as a substitute for the senior team's visit to Portman Road. Coming on in the 84th minute of the match to replace Martin Devaney, Noble-Lazarus surpassed the record set by Bradford Park Avenue's Albert Geldard in September 1929, and equalled by Welshman Ken Roberts for Wrexham F.C. in 1951, by 113 days. He was too young to be paid for his appearance – Barnsley manager Simon Davey joked he would be given pizza and a ham sandwich for his efforts – and was due to return to Newsome High School in Huddersfield the following day.

Davey had wanted to play Noble-Lazarus in the League Cup earlier in the season but was prevented from doing so by the competition's rules, which prohibit the selection of players under the age of 15. The club has made an agreement with Noble-Lazarus' school to allow him to train with the club for two days each week. Davey has said that the club will "nurture" Noble-Lazarus by ensuring that he is "...dipped in and dipped back out..." of the team. Noble-Lazarus was included in Barnsley's squad to face Doncaster Rovers the weekend after his debut, making another substitute appearance when he came on for Iain Hume in the 87th minute.

Magnus Wolff Eikrem's New Contract

magnus wolff eikrem Magnus Wolff Eikrem who was scouted by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is set to be offered a new contract by Manchester United.

Central midfielder Eikrem, who is now 18, has been tipped to follow in legendary United striker Solskjaer's footsteps and has already made an impact on the coaching staff in the North West.

Eikrem's agent Jim Solbakken is planning to hold talks with club officials after being given an indication of United's intent.

Solbakken told Romsdals Budstikke: "Magnus has had a meeting with Alex Ferguson and has been told that the club want him to sign a new contract.

"We will discuss that next time I travel there."

A midfielder with good vision, Magnus is the latest addition to United's Academy family.

Magnus joins United on 8 August when he celebrates his 16th birthday. He comes with a good reputation after being spotted at Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s soccer school in Norway.

He is a very skilful player that can play anywhere across the midfield, though he is predominantly a central midfield player.

He posesses bundles of ability and the United coaching staff are hopeful his skills can flourish in England after he turned down Norwegian club Molde to work with Solskjaer.....Back To Home Page...Bookmark and Share

Manchester United's Carlos Tevez Named In Argentina Sqaud

manchester united argentina carlos tevez france marseilleCarlos Tevez might struggle at times to get first team opportunities with Manchester United when Wayne Rooney is around but he is always an automatic choice for Argentina, currently managed by Maradonna.

He has just been named for the squad that is due to play France in a friendly on February 11th.

The match is being played in Marseille which is a God send as it means Tevez wont have to fly to Argentina and back in mid week, which is nit ideal preperation for a Saturday match.

Defenders: Javier Zanetti (Inter Milan), Martin Demichelis (Bayern Munich), Gabriel Heinze (Real Madrid), Daniel Diaz (Getafe), Nicolas Burdisso (Inter Milan), Walter Samuel (Inter Milan).

No Manchester United Players Are Going On Loan Now

Just to support the article preceding this one it has transpired that Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has ruled out allowing any of his young players to move out on-loan. With United still fighting on FIVE front for yet more trophies (EPL, WCC, Champions League, FA Cup and Carling Cup) Sir Alex knows that with a possible fixture pile up and the prospect of 8 games coming up in 26 days in the new year it is United who need the players and NOT other clubs.

He said: "The one good thing is that we've got a big strong squad, I won't be letting anyone else out on loan and I want to keep everyone together because I'm going to need them. It's all about taking their chance when it comes and they have done that and I'm pleased with that but more importantly it adds to my squad when we're coming in the second half of the season. We've got something like eight games in 26 days and I've got the squad to cope with that. It's a great bonus we've got now."

Ferguson has a lot of faith in young players like Danny Welbeck, Rodrigo Possebon and Rafel da Silva and believes they are capable of making an impact at United.

He added: "Playing against Middlesbrough, QPR and against Blackburn, we learnt something from them, their temperament, their ability to play in front of the crowd at Old Trafford. They're never phased, that's the important thing. These young players have come through well."

Good news indeed. Not just for us as fans who want to see these guys develop and grow into future super stars but brilliant news for the players themselves. They play at the biggest club in the world and I'm sure they would rather pull on the famous red jersey during their time at the Academy.

Nurturing youth and giving youngsters their chance is how Sir Matt did it. The birth of the Busby babes announced the real arrival of faith in youth systems and Sir Alex has reinforced that with his management methods. We must continue this system, not just for Sir Matt or Sir Alex but for Manchester United as a whole.....Back To Home Page...Bookmark and Share
