This comes just a few months after Van Der Sar came out of international retirement to rescue The Netherlands as they faced a goalkeeping crisis. Vand der Sar's representative, Rob Jansen, has now announced he has been in discussions with United for "a couple of weeks" regarding fresh terms - and that agreement has now been reached.
Speaking to ANP Jansen said: "Manchester United will make it known officially on Friday. We have already been in talks about a new contract for a couple of weeks. Now we have reached an agreement. It is for one year. What will happen after that, I don't know."
Van der Sar joined Manchester United from Fulham in a £5million deal in 2005 when we were facing a keeper crisis after the departure of Peter Schmeichel six years previously. He will remain in my memories for the save he made from Nicolas Anelka in the Champions League Final which won it for us. He was also instrumental in United retaining the Premier League title.....Back To Home Page...

Van der Sar cost Fulham £5 million when he signed from Juventus. We actually got him on the cheap for something like £2 million. Bargain!
