Sir Alex To Bring Campbell Back From Spurs

Harry Redknapp has made comments about how he would like to make a bid to but Fraizer Campbell on a permanent deal, and 2 days later Sir Alex Ferguson starts rumours of how he may well bring him back to Old Trafford in the January transfer window.

The 21-year-old striker moved on loan to Tottenham on deadline day as part of the deal which saw Dimitar Berbatov sign for the Premier League champions. And after scoring twice for Spurs in their 4-2 Carling Cup win over Liverpool and netting another for the England Under-21's, Ferguson admits he may move to bring Campbell back to the club.

"We could pull him back in January, we have to the option and it is a possibility. The boy has been fantastic at Spurs. He is a good player but we needed to get him first-team experience, so we agreed to it so the deal with Berbatov went through."

Sorry Harry, it's not going to happen, well.........unless you want to bid about £20m it seems......

Harry Wants Campbell On A Permanent Deal

manchester united frazier campbell unitedTottenham boss Harry Redknapp wants to make Frazier Campbell's loan deal made permanent. As did Phil Brown at Hull City. Who can blame either of them either, Campbell is a definite star of the future. Campbell joined Spurs for a one season loan deal as part of the deal to bring Dimitar Berbatov to Old Trafford. Since he joined them he has done well I feel. In his last two games he has scored three times and to top that he also got his first international goal, scoring in Tuesdays U21 games against the Czech Republic which England won 2-0.

I remember Phil Brown making his initial offer of £500,000 for Campbell and raising it quite quickly to £7m. Harry will need to find a bit more than £7m to sign him now though I think. I just hope we don't do another Rossi here and sell him, only to see him blossom into a top class player.

Campbell enjoyed a very productive loan spell at Hull in 2007-08. He initially joined them in October 2007 on loan until mid-January 2008, and scored twice on his home debut in a 3-0 victory over Barnsley. Following his match-winning display against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Boxing Day 2007, in which he scored one goal and set up another, Hull expressed their interest in extending Campbell's loan until the end of the season. The loan extension was completed on 28 December 2007.

Campbell finished the season as Hull City's top scorer, with 15 goals. On 24 May 2008, he played in the Hull City team that achieved promotion to the top flight for the first time in their 104-year history, providing the assist for Dean Windass' goal in a 1–0 win over Bristol City in the Championship Playoff Final at Wembley Stadium. He described the loan move as "the best move of my career", saying "This is exactly why I came out on loan, it's like a fairytale really. You come away on loan and you never really know what to expect but we've done really well, both as a team and on a personal level".

Hull City were very keen to sign him. Hull chairman Paul Duffen had described Campbell as "too good for the Championship", but following their promotion, Hull were hoping to sign him permanently or get another season-long loan, depending on Manchester United's willingness to let him go. However, Campbell repeatedly expressed the desire to return to Old Trafford and try to break into the first team, despite Hull City bidding a club record fee of £7m.

In July 2008, Campbell was selected to tour South Africa with the Manchester United first team, and scored the team's fourth goal in a 4–0 win over Kaizer Chiefs in the final of the 2008 Vodacom Challenge. He also scored the winning goal in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's testimonial match against Espanyol on 2 August. After the game, United manager Sir Alex Ferguson indicated that Campbell would remain at the club for the duration of the season, stating "Fraizer's future is here". On 17 August 2008, Campbell started alongside Wayne Rooney for the opening game of the season in a 1-1 draw against Newcastle United. 14 days later he was whisked off to Spurs. I hope he returns to United. But if Fergie does choose to seel it should be for no less than £10m !!.....Back To Home Page..... Bookmark and Share

Frazier Campbell Appears Happy With Loan Move From Manchester United To Spurs

manchester united united cristiano ronaldoWhen Manchester United suddenly threw Frazier Campbell into the formula for the Dimitar Berbatov transfer deal I actully felt quite sorry for him. As well as feeling sorry for Phil Brown, manager of Hull City.

I felt Campbell might see this as a situation in which he was 'used' and 'abused' by United to get their man [Berbatov]. Phil Brown had also had Campbell on loan as Spurs do now. Frazier was instrumental in getting Hull into the Premiership and Brown offered £500,000 for him, a bit cheeky. He later raised his bid to £2m and eventually to £5m he rated him that highly. Suddenly to have the rug pulled out from under his feet as United traded him off against Berbatov.

But it seems Campbell is happy with his move and is looking forward to the challenge of getting a regular first team spot at White Hart Lane. He told Setanta Sports:

“I'm enjoying myself down at Spurs, obviously we could do with a win, but I'm still settling in and I'm sure we can turn it around. The next thing for me is to try to break into the first team, hold down a consistent position and hopefully score some goals for the team.”.....Back To Home Page

Fraizer Campbell Well Received At Spurs

"Our" Fraizer Campbell is grateful to Tottenham fans for their support since his arrival.

"The fans have been really good with me so far. So things are good on a personal note. Hopefully my next step will be to get a goal," he said.

"Against Wisla the gaffer told me to go on and create something, and you've always got to try to bring something different to the table when you come on as a sub.

"It was good to be involved in the winning goal, it set me off on the right foot.

"There are just a few little things we need to put right and I'm sure we'll be fine after that. Hopefully our bad patch is behind us now and we can start to stride on."

The England Under-21 international is focused on the Carling Cup clash now and has the advantage of already having played against Newcastle in the first match of the season for United.

He said: "Every player wants to be part of a winning team that can win a trophy so I'd be happy if we could go on to win the Carling Cup again."

"Newcastle looked a decent side (when they drew 1-1 at Old Trafford) but hopefully we can beat them this time.

"Shay Given made some great saves and stopped me last time. I think he owes me one now."

We Got Him !!

I love to follow United transfer battles but this one even outshone the Tevez
Affair !! Well we got him, and I am so happy now !!

Berbatov will be the best signing since Cantona, maybe even better than the
king himself. From the minute the transfer window opened exactly 62 days
went by until it closed, and Fergie got the papers registered with 40 minutes
of the window remaining - Pheww.

For Fergie though Berbatov’s arrival was a matter of extreme urgency. While
United were always confident City would be seen off, Ferguson knew he needed
another senior striker. He has won the last two Premier League titles, and the
Champions League whilst being one man down in the striker department. We
all knew this time around, there would be no surprise signing such as Henrik
Larsson to help us out, or an unexpected seam of goals from Ole Gunnar
Solskjaer, or, due to his current injury, 42 from Cristiano Ronaldo.

Campbell might have impressed in pre-season but Ferguson realised it was too
much to expect the youngster to hold down a regular place should either Wayne
Rooney or Carlos Tevez be ruled out for an extended period. Even though other
targets such as Michael Owen, Thierry Henry and David Villa were mentioned,
Berbatov was the man Ferguson kept returning to.

At 27, Berbatov is slightly older than most of United’s recent major purchases
but Ferguson feels his silky touch - which the Scot first experienced when Bayer
Leverkusen faced the Reds in the Champions League five years ago. Fergie
believes Berbatov has the quality to score goals himself and create chances for
others. Some may question the player’s temperament in light of his recent
behaviour but that's just nonsense, Fergie has worked with plenty of highly-
strung individuals, including Eric Cantona, and got the best out of them. He will
expect to do the same with Berbatov, starting when United travel to Anfield to
face Liverpool on September 13.

What do you make of the move?

Have your say.

Rodrigo And Rafael Handed Debuts, Campbell Makes First Start.

With the first-team squad
depleted by a combination
of injuries, suspension and
Olympic duty, Brazilian
youngsters Rodrigo Possebon
and Rafael da Silva made
their competitive debuts for
United against Newcastle on
Sunday, while Fraizer Campbell made his first start for the Reds.

Campbell started upfront alongside the well-again Wayne Rooney
after Carlos Tévez recieved news of a family bereavement on the
eve of the season-opener and returned to his native Argentina, and
the 21 year-old was unfortunate not to open his United account
midway through the first half when he saw Magpies’ keeper Shay
Given repel his header with an unintentional header of his own.

Another header from a sublime Rooney cross .... More http//manunitedyouth.wordpress.com/2008/08/18/rodrigo-and-rafael-handed-debuts-campbell-makes-first-start/

That Was The Summer That Was !!

Summer came and went, seems like the transfer window will be similar
to the summer. It started, then finished and not a lot happened. This
Berbatov nonsense has freaked me out, I would have said here's my
offer, now take it or leave it. Wasting time and so much energy with
that Levy character is just not worth it !!

Some people panic with the strike force we have. We will rely heavily
on Tevez and Rooney, they are the lynch pins for this season. I think
that's OK though. Could you name two other players in the Prem
League that you would rather rest your hopes and dreams on ?
When you need 100% commitment, and the guys run themselves into
the ground, and you ask them for some more, just a little more, they'll
get up, brush themselves down and run some more for you !!! They
are a rare breed these days, players with so much commitment and
loyalty. To have one is lucky but to have two playing alongside each
other is good, very, very good.

Fraizer Campbell played many games last year and scored 15 in 23
games I believe, off the top of my head. So now he has to step up to
the mark and try to make the crossing from reserves to the big time !
It's up to him now, but I have faith in this guy.

Manucho ? I think he's still wondering the streets of Panathinaikos
looking for the railway station. On top of that does he have a work
permit ? Pffftt ... too complicated so yes, we have these three, and
we have to keep the faith. It's not Fergies fault he got no new players.
(Useless Scottish git, lmao)

What Now For Frazier ?

Phil Brown, the Hull City boss has been on the phone to Fergie apparently.
He's trying to broker another deal to keep Frazier Campbell at the KC
Stadium for another season. I don't blame him either, Campbell was
their top scorer last year by a country mile ! Brown said: "I spoke at
length with Sir Alex Ferguson at the end of the season, having kept
him up to speed with the progress Fraizer Campbell had made all season.

"He was adamant that all his players would come back for pre-season
training.

"When they come back from South Africa there is an opportunity
to talk again.

"I fully trust Sir Alex's word on that and when they come back from South Africa I will be putting a call in.

There is always a possibility."

"He is very, very important to me, and that we get the right quality strikers in," Brown added.

"It is difficult. There are one or two strikers out there we have earmarked as priority but if Fraizer Campbell
became available we would certainly be interested in taking him, either permanent or on loan."

Damn right he's important to you Mr Brown !! He's virtually the only guy who scored for you last season !

I think Fergie values Campbell at around £6m ... given the fact that a few clubs are interested in our boy,
including Aston Villa, Brown wont get him cheaply !

Personally I'd like to see him stay with us. I've watched him in a few reserve games and he is certainly 'above average'.
